English Dub Review: Solo Leveling “The Real Hunt Begins”

Overview:

Jinwoo and Jinho are staring down a dungeon boss.

Our Take:

Jinwoo’s party has abandoned him and Jinho. Their plan is to let the dungeon boss kill them so they can take their share of the loot. That’s what this party has always done. However, they don’t count on Jinwoo being impressively strong.

They have to find that out first hand when they re-enter the gate. They have to take on Jinwoo themselves and it doesn’t go the way they expect.

This episode follows the direction that the show has been going in. The action still looks good and I still love Aleks Le’s performance. Again though, I do feel that tension and suspense that was present early on.

I don’t just mean that it’s predictable that Jinwoo will beat monsters or win fights. It’s more so the fact that I can predict roughly how long each fight will be. I predicted his fight with the dungeon boss would only last about two minutes and I think I was pretty close.

I still like this episode overall and I hope to see Jinho go on more raids with Jinwoo. I feel like he has a lot more room to grow and being with Jinwoo can help him do that.
