English Dub Review: Solo Leveling “It’s Like a Game”
Overview:
Jinwoo survives his latest raid and he looks to improve his strength.
Our Take:
Jinwoo wakes up in a hospital three days after the raid. He finds that his wounds are healed and he’s not missing any limbs. Things aren’t back to normal though because he now sees pop-pup screens that nobody else sees.
His life essentially turns into a game because of these screens. He has to complete daily quests, he gets loot boxes for doing so and he can power himself up with experience points he gains. The screens also refer to him as a “player.” There’s no explanation for this yet, but they’re the only reason he’s still alive.
I’m very confused by Jinwoo’s life turning into an MMO. I really hope we get an explanation for that because it’s kind of throwing me off. At least he’s using it to his advantage. He’s putting all of his experience points into improving his strength. he won’t be the weakest hunter anymore, that’s for sure.
A couple of his fellow surviving party members seem like they’re going to retire, including Joohee. This isn’t surprising, but it will great affect Jinwoo since he’ll be without a healer for the time being. We also find out why Jinwoo’s mom is in the hospital, so that’s one less question I have.
It’s cool to see Jinwoo getting stronger and starting to prove himself. I just really want to know how he’s able to do all of this. What is he a player in and are there others like him? I hope these questions will be answered in the near future.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
