English Dub Review: Solo Leveling “A Pretty Good Deal”

Overview:

Jinwoo goes on his first C-rank raid.

Our Take:

Jinwoo continues to improve his stats and he needs to go back to work. He takes a job going on his first C-rank raid. He’s a new recruit for a party, along with a D-rank hunter named Jinho Yoo. They go through the gate and battle giant insects. It seems to be going well, but Jinwoo is suspicious of the whole excursion.

The main character’s transformation is something else. Jinwoo is ripped now, which everyone keeps mentioning. His sister also mentions that he looks taller. To me, he just looks older in general. His voice is deeper too, which is a nice touch. The exercise that he’s doing now explains his physique. I’m not entirely sure why it seems like he’s aged a bit, but it obviously has something to do with the MMO elements that have been implemented.

The party that Jinwoo works with seems shady at first. We find out why that is by the end of the episode. Jinho is the only nice member of the party. He’s the other new recruit and he looks up to Jinwoo. Jinho is a rookie hunter with expensive gear, but his inexperience shows. I would like to see more of him though, since he gets along well with Jinwoo. All said, it’s at least nice to see Jinwoo finally going on another raid.
