English Dub Review: Sasaki and Peeps “The War and the Young Lady”/”The Prince and the Sage”

Overview:

The Kingdom of Herz is about to engage in war and Sasaki is enlisted to help with supplies.

Our Take:

Viscount Mueller requests Sasaki’s help in supplying rations and other goods for an upcoming war. Sasaki and Peeps help and the viscount also tells Sasaki more about the starsage. This is interesting since Peeps himself hasn’t really talked about his past life.

The second episode focuses on events after the war and it mainly involves the trading company and Sasaki looking after the viscount’s daughter. Plus, there is another battle that ensues. This time, however, Sasaki and Peeps are directly involved.

I like learning more about Peeps’ past as the great starsage. It’s nice to see his relationship with the viscount and other people in his world as well. These two episodes mainly take place in Peeps’ world, so it’s refreshing to see it take the foreground for a while.

Elsa is an interesting addition to the cast, especially when she almost discovers that Peeps isn’t an ordinary bird. Sasaki and Peeps manager to cover it well though and in a rather comedic scene as well.

These two episode have a pretty solid overarching plot. I would have liked to have seen a certain character face greater consequences at the end, but perhaps there is more yet to come. It’s nice to see more of Peeps’ world, like I said, but Sasaki’s world is probably going to receive more attention for a little bit. After all, Sasaki gets promoted and we have to see what that entails moving forward.
