English Dub Review: Ninja Kamui “Episode 3”
Joe, Emma, and Mike continue to look into the connections between the clan and the totally not evil tech corporation known as Auza.
More of the same compared to last week’s– a few more sillier moments to help alleviate things though (What’s up with the peking duck running gag?). As it currently stands, it sorta does feel like Ninja Kamui lost its steam for a bit. As I mentioned before, I’m not expecting any sort of meaningful examination on revenge itself, since the show itself doesn’t seem to be either. Joe isn’t the type of guy to question his motives for doing anything, he’s got one goal and he’ll see through until the end. So there’s no sort of internal conflict going on with him there, not like there needs to be!
Emma and Mike on the other hand feel superfluous– they’re lacking in a proper dynamic that would make their screentime more engaging when they’re together. They’re fine enough, but in a show where most of your cast regularly perform superhuman feats like its nothing, they end up falling to the wayside in terms of my personal interest. Maybe if the both of them had their own reason for revenge– related to Joe’s or not – they could feel a little bit more in focus. Emma’s tech obsession is still fun though.
Majority of the episode is spent either reiterating points we already knew or revealing new information… that viewers would have easily predicted. We get a brief car chase at the end that gives way to another fun, exciting, and intense Sunghoo Park fight! Which feels a little tacked on this time around; feeling completely disconnected from the rest of the episode. Last week had the dumb Ubereats fakeout gags to ease us into things… Here the fight just sort of happens. It still rules don’t get me wrong, but I’m starting to get a little worried about fights feeling this tacked on this early.
Just another alright week for Ninja Kamui. Next week’s preview does look like it’s gearing up to be a straight 24-minute brawl. Or maybe 23-minute brawl. Who knows! I hope it breathes some new life into this show.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
