English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “Well-Laid Plans”

Overview:

Frieren and her new teammates hatch a plan to capture a Stille – but are the other teams just going to stand by and let it happen?

Our Take:

What I love most about tournament arcs is that we get to learn about a whole lot of characters. The problem, however, is that you begin to feel bad for them and root for them when you know that only a few can come out on top if not only one. This makes Fern and Frieren being on separate teams all the more concerning because I don’t know yet if they both can win. But since it’s framed as an exam there might be hope.

I’m very excited to see how this plays out because to catch a Stille, Frieren had to devise a pretty daring plan. She didn’t expect to get caught in the middle of it but I imagine she had a plan up her sleeves the whole time. One of the best parts has to be Fern using what she was taught by Frieren in a fight and her opponent commenting “It feels like I’m fighting my grandfather” because Frieren is probably thousands of years old this was more on point than I think she thought.
