“Squish”

Our Take

We have a new episode involving the trio traveling into the Prismatic Forest Grotto, where they uncover a secret passage linked to Arthur’s mysterious sightings. Their exploration leads them to a field of spider lilies and introduces a new NPC Ghost named “Setsuna of the Bygone Days.” This is a character that Pencilgon ends up becoming invested in her intriguing backstory, and the trio accepts her quest. Meanwhile, Sunraku/Rakuro takes a break from the previous grinding session, introducing more of his dysfunctional real-life family. Later on, he engages in a different game to hone his skills and encounters someone new…

The second episode brings a brand new intro and end credits, featuring an intense and rocking song called, “Danger Danger”. But with two weeks remaining, the trio must level up before facing the Wethermon boss. Emul’s twin sister, Elke, joins the team, completing the combination of skills. The narrative introduces Skill Grimoires, with Emul warning Sunraku about them. Elke, however, resists and comes off as a somewhat greedy and slick saleswoman, complete with a Southern accent in the dub. Additionally, a new goal emerges involving Pencilgon’s former clan, Ashura Kai, and their “Spoils of war”…

Overall, both episodes serve as setup episodes with a brisk pace. Along with both of their post-credits episodes are “holiday specials” of sorts, and help the audience get to know Sunraku’s real-life family, while also delving into Rei’s continued obsession with him, showcasing her lack of social skills and borderline stalker-like behavior. With the completion of the online Summer update. It’s clear that some major developments are going to happen at some point on the horizon and look forward to seeing them!
