English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “First-Class Mage Exam”

Overview:

Frieren and the party finally arrive in Äußerst, ready to undergo the first-class mage exam and meet many colorful characters who are there to do the same.

Our Take:

I probably don’t need to write a review for this series anymore because if you’ve been keeping up with me, you know how much I love this show and can’t recommend it enough. Now they’re throwing in a tournament arc?! Dang Frieren once you made the sell you can stop selling! If you’re an anime fan, you must love a good tournament arc. Some shows do it better than others so we’ll see how this pulls it off but considering it’s handled everything else brilliantly my hopes are high.

Frieren and Fern are both trying to get their first-class mage license and they need to take an exam. This will pit them against other mages and seemingly each other to get their license. I’m not sure but I think I missed the “why” of them getting the license because I was losing my cool on how awesome a tournament arc is but I’m sure we’ll figure it out. The best thing about this arc is getting to learn about different characters. I’m a bit worried that we won’t see Stark for a while but hopefully, it’s just the right amount of time.
