English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You “Kiss Zombie Panic”

Overview:

Kusuri accidentally turns the other girls into kiss zombies.

Our Take:

Hakari, Karane, Shizuka and Nano all accidentally drink tea that’s been laced with one of Kusuri’s drugs. It turns them into zombies whose only desire is to kiss their lover. Kusuri and Rentarou have to give them a nullifier to cancel the drug’s effects or else they’ll be stuck as kiss zombies forever.

This episode is very ridiculous, so it feels right at home in this series. It has kiss-thirsty zombies, insane drugs and the vice principal even makes an appearance. There are a lot of clever references in this episode as well, including Resident Evil and The Shining. The girls being turned into zombies is pretty interesting. They’re only focused on kissing and they can only say the word “kiss.” However, they’re still capable or strategizing and behaving like they normally would.

Rentarou still acts caring toward his girlfriends even though they’re zombies. For example, Shizuka trips and hurts her forehead. Rentarou takes her all the way to the nurse’s office and helps her out until he eventually remembers that she’s a zombie. I’m glad to see that the dynamics between the characters doesn’t change despite the fact that the girls are zombies.

We learn a little more about Kusuri in this episode. I’m not surprised by her backstory and I wouldn’t say it makes me like her more. I don’t dislike her, but she’s still my least favorite girlfriend so far. I still find her drug hobby to be a little too much, but she can still be entertaining. After all, she’s responsible for this crazy yet fun zombie outbreak.
