English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “Privilege of the Young”

Overview:

The party arrives in a large and lively town with a bustling shopping district that Frieren once visited with Himmel, but something seems to have come up between Fern and Stark.

Our Take:

I have to say that it’s a little bit refreshing to see a woman be the dense one in an anime. The problem though is even though Frieren is dense, I don’t think that means she’s dumb and as she continues on this journey I think she’s going to figure some things out trust me when I say that when she figures out that Himmel was in love with her it’s going to be heartbreaking. He more or less proposed to her when he gave her the ring he did during their journey.

While that romance is a bittersweet one at best, the one blossoming between Fern and Stark is just sweet. They are also young and have yet to come to terms with their feelings but if I was a guessing man I would have to guess that at the very least, Stark has feelings for Fern. I was also pleasantly surprised that he wasn’t a dumbass who forgot Fern’s birthday but had a plan of what to do and when she got upset he didn’t know how to react. I love this anime and the characters in it, I’m really glad that we’re getting a second cour for this series.
