English Dub Review: The Faraway Paladin The Lord of the Rust Mountains “The Messenger in the Burial Chamber”

Overview:

Following reports of undead sightings in Beast Woods, Will and Ru find an old burial site where they encounter a Herald of Stagnate, the god of the undead. It turns out the Herald was using the undead to lure Will there and convey a message to him…

Our Take:

I like stories where the “bad” guy isn’t always bad. Sure, Stagnate and Will have their differences and don’t really get along but I thought it was cool that Stagnate came to give Will a warning. Will had to struggle with the decision about what was to be done about the dragon on the mountain. I also understand it’s only been a couple of episodes but the character progression for Ru has been really awesome. Now he’s beating the shit out of his family to teach them a point.

Now this is starting to feel a lot like the plot of The Hobbit but I’m hopeful that they will do enough to keep it fresh and interesting. Will and Ru are going to go head to head with a dragon and with how well the animation has been for this series thus far I am really looking forward to it. If you’re a fan of fantasy and anime this season has been a treat for you between this and Frieren there is a lot of great fantasy anime.
