English Dub Review: The Ancient Magus’ Bride “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.”

Overview:

The mystery deepens as all the students drained of magic suddenly wake up feeling fine. Rumors about the culprit start to rise among the student body. Veronica checks in on Philomela.

Our Take:

I don’t know if it’s worse to be on Chise or Lucy’s bad side but both are terrifying in their own way. There are sometimes this series doesn’t take itself too seriously and I have to mention a moment where I laughed out loud. That might not sound very impressive but I work another job and sometimes watch anime on my lunch so I try to not bring attention to myself in a public setting. But when the principal told Elias she had a snack for Chise and proceeded to dump about thirty Snickers bars on her head had me rolling while trying to eat my lunch.

If the lockdown of 2020 taught us anything it’s that being stuck to one place for too long can lead your emotions to run a little hot. Some of the students aren’t happy with having to be locked in and some of them are starting to point fingers. Those fingers seemed to be pointed at Lucy and Chise defended her which seemed to upset Lucy for some reason. The characters have been great so far but I would like just a bit more progression.
