English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You “The Hyper-Efficient Girl”

Overview:

Rentarou meets Nano Eiai and tries to show her a good time on a date.

Our Take:

Rentarou finds his fourth soulmate in Nano Eiai, who just so happens to be the smartest girl in school. She is obsessed with doing everything efficiently and doesn’t think fun or romance offer her anything to advance academically. However, she can’t deny the fact that she has fallen in love with Rentarou.

Nano attempts to reject him, but Rentarou is an expert when it comes to unrequited love. Instead, he asks to take her on one date. If she doesn’t enjoy herself and find it meaningful, he’ll leave her alone.

I wasn’t sure how to feel about Eiai at first. She talks in a bit of a condescending manner and she doesn’t see the benefits of anything outside of academics. That being said, she grew on me throughout the episode.

I usually like blunt characters and she definitely fits the bill. She has some of the funniest interactions with Rentarou that have happened in the show so far. I also love that she calms herself down by writing out the digits of pi. There is a gross scene where she licks Rentarou’s finger after he cuts it, but at least it’s short.

Once again, I enjoy how different she is compared to the others. Nano is actually opposed to being in a relationship. She’s a bit tougher for Rentarou to communicate with since she’s so stubborn. This new dynamic is why this is my favorite episode so far. It’s full of everything I already liked about the show, as well as some new twists that feel very refreshing.
