English Dub Review: The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You “First Kiss”

Both Karane and Hakari want to be Rentarou’s first kiss.

Our Take:

Rentarou reveals that he’s never kissed anyone before. Since Karane and Hakari are both his girlfriends, they both want to be the one to kiss him first. Rentarou comes up with an idea to make it so neither one will get jealous, but that proves to be more difficult than they all originally think.

This episode continues the show’s trend of over the top humor. The biggest example is the school’s vice principal. She looks horrifying and she chases down students to French kiss them when they break the rules. That is very unsettling, but the idea is so ridiculous that it’s hard not to laugh a little.

I said last week that Karane is a tsundere who does not resort to physical violence. That goes out the window in this episode since she pummels Rentarou several times. Granted, it’s because she thinks he’s doing something inappropriate, so it’s not completely unjustified. She also makes a Fist of the North Star reference at one point, which is amusing. This and all of the other shenanigans that ensue during these first kiss attempts are incredibly hysterical.

We get a glimpse of Rentarou’s next potential girlfriend at the end of the episode. I’m hoping she’ll be drastically different than the other two since I think that’s when harem anime are at their best.
