English Dub Review: Shy “Shine the Light”

Overview:

As Shy searches for ways to strengthen the power of her heart, she finds support and inspiration in unlikely places. Help and begrudging assistance from Lady Black helps her understand struggle more as they help someone together.

Our Take:

The first ten minutes or so of this episode hit way too close to home for me. Momijiyama being absolutely terrified to ask for an employee to come help her purchase the items she needed was an experience I go through all the time. People can complain about self-checkout all they want but I think the hero Shy and I have something in common when it comes to dealing with people.

Not only that but the employee who came to help was experiencing some serious back pain and I wish I could say that I don’t know what that’s like. But luckily for her, Shy’s hero friend Lady Black came to check on her wounds and she was able to talk her into helping the poor shop owner. Wish I knew a super hero that could heal back pain…

The shop owner wanted her back healed as soon as possible so that she could climb the local mountain like her and her recently deceased husband used to do all the time. Lady Black volunteered her and Shy to go with her to make sure she was okay. Here we learned that Lady Black is missing both her legs but doesn’t let that stop her from proving people wrong. Hopefully, this was just the inspiration that Shy needed to master her newfound fire powers.
