English Dub Review: Management of a Novice Alchemist “Let’s Head to the Lake!”

Overview:

A monster that could drop a rare ingredient, AND Sarasa could enjoy a trip to the lake in the bargain? Sign her up for a monster hunt!

Our Take:

I’m going to get what was good out of the way before I talk about how weird this episode was. The animation is still crisp and the voice talent is as fantastic as it has been. Brittney Karbowski is great as Sarasa and continues to show why she’s one of my favorite VAs. For most of the episode, it was still super chill and fun, until it got weird.

For starters, there was a lot of yuri bait, which by itself isn’t weird but then they went on to make a lot of references to clams. Not only that but then they fought a giant monster that looked a lot like a penis. Look anime is weird and I’ve seen my fair share to be fair this could have been me just reading too much into some innocuous things but when all things were put together it was just odd. Maybe it was because the rest of the series thus far hasn’t had any of that so I just wasn’t expecting it. So far this has been a borderline kids’ show, I love yuri references and adult humor a lot myself but was just caught off guard so we will see how the rest of the series goes.
