English Dub Review: Heaven Official’s Blessing S2-E4

Overview:

Xie Lian leaves Hua Cheng and attempts to set things right.

Our Take:

I’m fully aware that almost all of the characters in this series are either a god or a spirit of some kind but some of the things that happen in this series are baffling. It seems almost everyone can shapeshift and how do they use such an awesome power? They change into a woman, and while yes I’m sure it helps them get to places they wouldn’t be able to get to and blend into certain groups it’s just odd. It definitely happens in anime but it seems to be a lot more prevalent in donghua.

My biggest knock on this season thus far is that it has been a little bit hard to follow. I know that Xie is hated by most in the heavens but where he is now is confusing. It seems like a version of hell but I could be wrong. Why is Hua Cheng there? Has Xie Lian still not figured out who he is? We’re the day before Thanksgiving here in the States so maybe I just wasn’t as focused as I should have been but the story here is a bit muddled to me.
