English Dub Review: Goblin Slayer “Onward to Adventure”

Overview:

Goblins ambush some rookie adventurers on their way back home from training and it’s up to Goblin Slayer and the other higher-ranking adventurers to save them.

Our Take:

I wasn’t sure that Goblin Slayer could laugh as heartily as he did in this episode. I understand that his life has been rough so far but it was nice to see him laugh and be happy. This season has been pretty nice to see him be in more laid-back situations. Sure he still kills goblins, I mean it’s in the title, but him taking on more of a mentor role has been fun.

After telling you all that this anime has put its troubling first episode in the rearview mirror I thought I would have to eat my words in this one. A group of young adventurers was out and they were about to be attacked by a group of goblins. As you can imagine there are some women in that group and it made me a bit worried when one of them got attacked by goblins from the jump. Luckily (or unluckily?) it looked like she was really injured. In fact, I think I saw her getting healed later so hopefully we don’t have to worry about things like very often.

Priestess finally got her rank up, and now that she’s closer to being on the same level as the rest of the group I’m intrigued to see what they might do next. Goblin Slayer feels like he’s the pest exterminator of this world. These pests can kill you, among other terrible things, it’s a dirty job but someone has to do it and I look forward to seeing what goblin nest the gang finds themselves in next.
