English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “Aura the Guillotine”

Overview:

While Fern and Stark make a temporary retreat with Graf Granat, Frieren’s true foe awaits her outside the city.

Our Take:

I don’t think I can come up with enough words to describe how amazing this series has been. The fact that it has not only one but two strong female leads is fantastic. Frieren is on a journey to understand her former party and in the process has begun to form another party that might just rival it in strength. Fern has been one of the best female characters I’ve seen in a long time because of her strength but in also how she treats people. She has probably grown the most in the last few episodes.

Story beats aside I also have to praise the animation more than just about anything. What makes this one of the greatest anime I’ve seen recently is the emotional response it gives me. Not only does the subjects in the story bring me to tears but the animation does as well. The fight scenes in this series have been top tier, and we’re only a few episodes in. As it progresses and the stakes in battle get higher and higher, I can only imagine that the animation is only going to get better and better.
