English Dub Review: After-School Hanako-kun “Kokkuri-san / Mitsuba’s Operation: Friends”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Nene and some of the kids try to do a seance. Later, another apparition tries to make friends.
OUR TAKE
Okay so, the first half actually focuses more on Nene, the hapless sidekick character as she gets roped into a seance with a few side characters who I’m sure were quite hilarious in the main series but all seem like pretty one note cardboard cutouts as portrayed here. Naturally, as they try to get some answers from the dead (with the added irony of them being in a literal haunted school but still playing these games despite that), they end up summoning a real ghost. Or rather, those weird pink bunny ghosts who are obsessed with candy and accidentally hint that one of the guys is gay, which pisses off his childhood friend love interest. Ha ha ha. The other half focuses on a few other apparitions (and maybe one human? The green girl kinda looks like she’s in a uniform but who knows) as one tries to make friends and ends up falling flat, but then realizes he already had friends all along! Huzzah! Praise be to the gods of lonely ghosts! Anyway, neither of these were particularly funny and I’m glad we’re half way done with all of this. Let’s see how I do with the remaining two episodes.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
