Our Take
One of the real good fixes of the last season or so is that it used to be when Peter got a new job or something in the first act the writers would quickly abandon it for some sort of rehashed plot. Lately, they’ve been letting these ideas, especially the “let Peter do THIS” tropes play out and come up with as many funny beats as they can and it absolutely works better. This week’s episode is testament to that.
This week’s episode is a great example of what happens when you let new blood like Joanna Quraishi into the writer’s room, giving us a hilarious romp with Lois mostly at the center. We’ve seen how she gets testy about Peter going to the grocery store before, “Vestigial Peter” being a prime example. But, “Supermarket Pete” wonders what happens when Peter “invades” Lois’ space and the results are hilarious. Top notch sequences like Peter bringing the store home, the Mickey Copter, and disappearing into the mist are all bits that fit right in with Chris’ “Take On Me” send up as legendary grocery store moments that the show has given us.
As for the B-plot with Joe and Brian, most of it is quite forgetful due to the fact that the Griffins have done a lot of mysteries over the years that were far better, but the Anchorman-esque fight sequence was fantastic, so I wasn’t completely disappointed. The cutaways also really saved this half of the episode because pretty much every one of them made me laugh with a special shout out going to Grocery Store Oscars on the shortlist of the best cutaway gags of the young season thus far.
Family Guy takes a week long break, hopefully we come back to this continued hot streak the show seems to have going for it for the 22nd season.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
