English Dub Season Review: Link Click Season Two
Overview:
The person who’s possessing others causes Lu Guang to be hospitalized. Cheng Xiaoshi and the others have to figure out who is behind all this and bring it to an end.
Our Take:
This season picks up right where the previous season left off. Lu Guang gets stabbed, and he ends up being hospitalized for a good portion of this season. Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling have to work with Captain Xiao and the rest of the police in order to find out who is possessing people and is behind these murders.
Season two introduces a lot of new characters, and it does a good job at developing them. We learn a lot about their past, and why they are going down the path they are. Qian Jin is an interesting antagonist, and I’m intrigued by the twins Li Tianxi and Li Tianchen as well.
Link Click has always been good at answering a question only to raise another one immediately. The first season was more episodic early on, so that wasn’t as noticeable. Since this season only follows one continuous story, it’s a lot more prevalent. It can get confusing at times, and even frustrating since it feels like you never get all of the details. The fact that each episode ends on a cliffhanger, including the season finale, doesn’t make it any easier. However, it does help keep the viewer guessing and it makes the show exciting.
The visuals, music and voice acting are just as good as they were in the previous season. We also get to see the main characters return. Qiao Ling feels more important to the story this time around. I wanted to see more of her last season, so I’m glad she gets more screen time here. Lu Guang still gets a lot of screen time too, despite being in the hospital for a lot of the season.
I liked the more episodic nature of the first season. Season two is much more story-drive, which I also enjoy. Season one does become more story-driven later on, but season two is just a continuation of that. It’s a different dynamic from the first season, but it’s just as enjoyable. Maybe even a little more so.
The way this season ends leaves the possibility for a third season open. The story isn’t quite finished yet, so I hope it does get another season. Even though season two doesn’t completely finish the story, it answers a lot of questions and gives us closure for a lot of key plot points. It’s a great follow-up to the first season, and here’s hoping a third is not too far away.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
