English Dub Review: The Misfit of Demon King Academy “Send Hatred to the Past”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
After witnessing Great Spirit Leno and Shin meet a tragic fate, Anos and his classmates return to Delsgade in the present day. There, persecution against those of mixed blood by Meleheyth and the demons whom Avos Deilhevia brainwashed was progressing. Anos holds them off and heads to the throne room. He faces off against Avos, who attempts to steal Magic Sword of Destruction Venuzdnor!
Our Take:
Our adventure in Anos’s past may be over, but the fight against Avos rages on, with Anos and the gang returning to the present following Leno and Shin’s demise. Here’s a spoiler alert for those who missed the previous episode: It’s as tragic as it sounds. Fortunately, their time-traveling journey isn’t without a silver lining. It turns out that their meddling in Anos’s past allowed the gang to gain the upper hand in their fight against Avos and her brainwashed minions.
The characters Anos encountered two episodes ago have successfully reincarnated 2,000 years in the future to assist Misha and Sasha in rescuing the remaining students. One is Egarith, who was reborn as the academy’s student, and the other is Davidra, whose previous life is a demon guard abusing Egarith. So, instead of disrupting the space-time continuum like many other time-travel movies and shows, Anos managed to level the playing field, leaving him and Lay to confront Avos and the Spirit King. Of course, thanks to Avos’s magic, Lay is left alone to battle Avos while Anos deals with the Spirit King, who’s revealed to be Shin.
This resulted in one of my favorite parts of the episode, maybe even the entire season. Anos helps Shin find peace in himself after enduring 2,000 years of hopelessly searching for his daughter Misa. After seeing what Shin has gone through in the past, I can’t help but feel glad that he got the closure he deserves, even though he betrayed Anos to serve Avos. This sequence definitely shows how much Anos means to Shin regarding their relationship. Thanks to this riveting yet heartfelt episode, the stage is set for the ultimate confrontation between Anos and Avos. The question is, would he be able to rescue Misa before the first cour concludes?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
