English Dub Review: The Dangers in my Heart “Karte 10: We Walked Slowly”
Overview
It’s Japan’s most romantic time of the year and Kyotaro and Anna are not on a date. Kyotaro is keeping a running tally of all his screw-ups, but Anna is enjoying herself.
Our Take
This time around, Kyotaro and Anna meet early on Christmas Eve, with Kyotaro realizing Anna is dressed up while he feels like a stalker. Their meeting turns into an unexpected experience as Anna takes Kyotaro for pancakes, creating an atmosphere that makes him feel like he’s on a first date. The embarrassment heightens for Kyotaro when he realizes he can only afford coffee and struggles to look Anna in the face. The dynamics shift as Anna involves Kyotaro in clothes shopping, asking him to pick outfits for her and flustering him during the undressing process behind the curtain.
During their shopping adventure, Kana appears, and Anna, recognizing Kyotaro’s discomfort, pulls him into the changing room to avoid being seen. In this proximity, Anna seizes the opportunity to make Kyotaro promise to introduce her to his sister soon. The shock hits Kyotaro when he sees Anna’s bra under her unzipped dress, a purchase she decides to make. Despite the awkwardness, Kyotaro admits he’s having fun, prompting Anna to reveal a scarf she bought for him. Their connection deepens as Kyotaro grabs Anna’s hand to avoid separation in the busy train, and they continue holding hands for the entire journey and their walk home, uncertain of when to let go. The episode concludes with Kyotaro surprised by Anna’s hope to see him again before New Year’s Eve, sparking his contemplation on whether she’s aware of his feelings for her.
Overall, this was one of those episodes that potentially rewards upon repeat viewings, and was comically great at capturing the awkwardness of first dates. The animation, music, and atmosphere successfully convey the funny romantic vibe the episode aims for. The only thing I could do without was the mention of “mansplaining” in the translated Dub which felt unnecessary. I absolutely can’t believe there are only 2 episodes left of this show, it doesn’t feel right at all but I’m willing to see where this goes…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
