English Dub Review: Jujutsu Kaisen “Shibuya Incident – Gate, Open”

Overview:

The battle between Satoru Gojo, Jogo, Hanami and Choso begins. Gojo informs Hanami that they will die first. Yuji encounters a woman who tells him that everyone was turned into monsters and boarded a train. As Gojo’s battle continues, the train arrives.

Our Take:

I know I spent a good portion of last week’s review talking about how bad ass Gojo is and I’m here to tell you that a good portion of this review will be more of the same. What more can you say about someone who just about every bad guy we’ve seen up to this point had to team up to “defeat”. I put defeat in quotes because he was sealed and I don’t think that means he was beaten and he should be back. But I’m not completely sure what being sealed in this universe means but something tells me it’s not good.

Now it’s on our boy Yuji to get things done or perhaps someone else? This might be where the prequel movie becomes required viewing because Yuta Okkotsu was mentioned by Geto and it feels like he might play a big role coming up with Gojo seemingly sidelined for a bit. Not only that but Geto is apparently the vessel of Kenjaku. I’m not sure what that means as of yet but as I understand it, that means that Geto is dead. This arc is off to a fantastic start, Mappa has outdone themselves so far.
