English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “Phantoms of the Dead”

Overview:

Frieren and Fern investigate ghost sightings at a village where people have started going missing.

Our Take:

I’m really impressed with Madhouse Studios’ ability to put out this many episodes this fast. I was really thinking they might skip a week for the dub at the very least. But we got another episode this week and I couldn’t be more glad. This anime is so enjoyable, I only have a minor nitpick. A new character was introduced who’s name is Stark but for some reason, everyone pronounces it “Sthark” to me.

Other than that I am excited to get another character introduced and Stark seems like an interesting character. Everyone in the village thinks he’s a hero but he was just frozen by fear in front of a dragon and for some reason, the dragon flew off. I love silly situations like that but I have a feeling that Stark will come through for Frieren and Fern.

I would say that this is a show about relationships. Not necessarily romantic ones but just relationships in general. Frieren is on a journey to learn about relationships and I really love how she and Fern interact. Fern and Stark’s relationship has the potential for not only romance but also a lot of fun.
