English Dub Review: The Duke of Death and His Maid “The Duke, Alice, and the Kissing Window”

Overview:

Walter, Alice, and the Duke learn more about the Duke’s curse, and the Duke gets a lamp that can grant any wish.

Our Take:

As much as I loved the first season of The Duke of Death and His Maid I think I might love this season even more. It’s become one of the cutest romance anime I’ve ever watched and not only is the main couple of the series great but the side couples are fantastic as well. In fact, I would argue that at the moment they’re better because there has been some progress. There was at least until this episode. But before I comment on that I would like to say that it seems like Daleth and Walter might actually become a thing. She kept making fun of the Duke for Walter and it was hilarious but she also blushed whenever she looked at Walter. Which as you know in anime means she’s falling in love.

As for the Duke and Alice, there were two very interesting developments. One, they received a genie lamp that granted them three wishes and as you guessed it the Duke wished for his curse to be gone. But just like the monkey’s paw, wishes aren’t always granted how we want. Since the curse was so complicated the genie had to just move it to another person, which the Duke didn’t want so he wished for the curse to come back. Talk about rizz alert.

After that, Alice was so moved and probably fell more in love with the Duke than she already was that she couldn’t contain herself and asked for a “kiss”. Since the curse was still in effect they kissed each other through a pane of glass in one of the cutest moments I’ve seen all year. It was nice seeing the normally composed Alice get pretty flustered. I can’t wait to see where the rest of this season goes.
