English Dub Review: The Devil is a Part-Timer! “The Devil Vomits”

Overview:

Maou and Suzuno make their way through Ente Isla’s forests. Emi and Ashiya each learn what they’ve been brought to Efzahan for.

Our Take:

Perhaps I just wasn’t paying the best attention but I have to say that after this episode I really like that Maou works at  MgRonald’s. Sure it has a comedy aspect to it but it seems like there is a more pointed reason why the devil works at the food chain. Apparently, demons just need magic energy to survive nothing else and when Maou got his human form he realized that being a human can be tough.

Humans need to eat to survive so food is a very big deal and working in the food industry has shown him an interesting point of view. I really liked this detail because this whole time I was thinking that he worked where he did for laughs but it turns out that it was a meaningful choice to help Maou grow and I love that.

What I don’t love is that Emi is seemingly getting forced to fight in a war she doesn’t want to. When she and Maou meet back up is going to be interesting but will Maou even be able to fight back? He’s been back in Ente Isla for a while now but has yet to return to his demon form.
