English Dub Review: Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence “Abel and Hazelita”

Overview

Cecilia helps out at a short-staffed cafe while waiting for Lawrence to finish his errands. When Lawrence finds out about her job, he can’t help worrying! Later, Abel receives an envelope containing something Cecilia has been desperately longing for…

Our Take

This time around, the titular Lady Saint is partaking in part-time work, she’s a blessing to serve the people and its townsfolk, wanting to earn the praises of Lawrence. Well, thank God that she didn’t break any plates or anything, but she’s a joy to behold in a maid-like outfit in a short-staffed cafe…which is where Lawrence also steps in in his perfection. Of course, Cecilia lazing around is something Lawrence only knows, and everyone glimmers with happiness. later on during a ” girls-only night” with Cecilia and Hazelita, the former feels disparaged that she has to wait for him to come back, though it’s the first time that she’s spending time with someone else.

Later on, Hazelita takes notice of Cecilia’s room and offers to spruce it up to hopefully increase her chances of getting with Lawrence. And Cecilia sure is instinctual when Lawrence returns, like a loyal servant. It’s clear that Abel’s life was changed by Lawrence, and the pictures of their old days together are given to Cecilia to look at with Hazelita, it’s too much for her brain to process. But looking back, both Abel and Lawrence were different people, one distraught by the sights that he saw, and the latter the one that he wants to be committed to the former. In the same way, Lawrence has Cecilia to look after, like the certain Abel: friends pulling friends together.

Overall, a passable episode. Cecilia is lucky in that unlike the saint in the west whose own people treated her as a tool/product and not a person that they used to her death the people of this village treat Cecilia as a person. Being forced to leave by others because of their fear is something that would change you. Still really liked the expansion into Abel as a character. Wonder if would we get to see the same for Hazelita?
