English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Kazuya and Girlfriend”

Overview:

It’s Ruka’s birthday, and Kazuya has to stay true to his word and grant her anything she desires. But what does she want, really?

Our Take:

I think I’m pretty much over this show. I already was to start the season but it just doesn’t get better and somehow manages to get worse. Ruka might be annoying but she doesn’t deserve to be in the situation she’s in with Kazuya. It’s even more frustrating because you can tell that Kazuya has it in him to be a good and functioning person but he just never is. He’s possibly the biggest chicken shit in fiction and it makes me wonder what kind of life experience the author of this story has.

One thing that makes Kazuya look a little better is the fact that it seems all males in the story are like him. Anytime he goes out with Ruka or Chizuru every guy in a mile radius is always saying “Wow that is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in my life” or “What is she doing with a loser like that?!” I feel like this is something I complain about weekly and I’m sorry about that but it’s just so bad. I really hope this doesn’t get another season but I think I’m in for the long haul.
