English Dub Review: My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1 “We’re All Having a Party”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Ryota encounters the dungeon lord in the Nihonium dungeon. However, the master of the dungeon is revealed to be a female ghost that can phase through Ryota’s powerful bullets. However, her weakness could be the key to Ryota’s victory. Afterward, Ryota gains a powerful drop that proves helpful in his team’s favor. As they continue to grow as a family, Ryota realizes the true importance of living his new life.

Our Take:
Despite being at level one, Ryota has beaten plenty of powerful monsters throughout the season without breaking a sweat. However, his OP skills are finally about to be tested, as Ryota finds himself facing a seemingly unstoppable ghost in the Nihonium dungeon. The spirit is faster and stronger than Ryota and can phase through Ryota’s bullets, even his powerful ones. This would’ve provided the high stakes needed to conclude the middling isekai series on an exhilarating note. Of course, since the show is more light-hearted than the other action-packed isekai shows, it’s unsurprising that Ryota’s greatest challenge is another easy win for our hero.
It didn’t take Ryota too long to recognize the ghost’s weakness, which was her foot. Ryota used his homing bullet to damage her foot, resulting in her disintegrating whenever she tried to attack. This allowed Ryota to finish her off, thus ending the ghost’s curse. Not to sound like a nerd or anything, but the spirit has the lamest weakness I’ve seen in an isekai series. So, you can say that after the buildup between Ryota and the dungeon master in the last episode, we’re left with a disappointing end to Ryota’s final boss of the season.
Fortunately, the remaining events after the battle managed to be a mild improvement, with Ryota and the team getting a chance to max out their levels and skills. This is due to a unique ring Ryota received from killing the Nihonium dungeon master. The ring can transform leftover experience points into crystals. Since Ryota is maxed out to level one, he uses the ring to help Emily, Celeste, Eve, and Princess Margaret max out their levels and skills. With the team’s levels maxed out, the Ryota Family is now famous among the townsfolk. Even better is that Emily and Celeste gained their licenses, and Erza becomes the newest member of Ryota’s harem team.
“We’re All Having a Party” doesn’t gain the show’s first season much experience points for its underwhelming first half. However, the second half compensates by showcasing Ryota’s generous personality, with him helping his friends grow stronger with his ring. He also knows that the experience he gains comes from spending every moment with the people he cherishes, not just from killing monsters. I didn’t love the series as much as others, which I’ll explain further in my upcoming season review. However, the season finale’s charm from its fundamental characters is enough to bring its first season to a mildly satisfying conclusion.
