English Dub Review: Liar, Liar “Facing Off and Flushing Out”

Overview:

Saionji’s doppelgänger is causing more chaos than originally anticipated and Shinohara’s team is put to the test.

Our Take:

The ASTRAL competition is going strong and Saionji’s doppelgänger is making the game more difficult for everybody. It seems they can take the shape of anybody the please, which causes trust issues and dissension. Shinohara’s team was already having difficult getting along, but this just amplifies the discourse between them.

Enomoto and Asamiya are still having disagreements. It gets so bad that they end up sitting out for day three, which puts the team in an interesting predicament. They’re pitted against Senri Kururugi, one of the strongest players in the competition. They actually do very well, but it ends in a way that I wasn’t expecting.

My main complaint with the last episode was that there was barely any action. That was remedied this time around. I really enjoyed watching the game in this episode. I’ve been curious to see what Kururugi has to offer and I’m not disappointed.

I didn’t understand why Shinohara was just letting his team fall apart at the seams. Since he’s the acting commander, I figured he’d take charge and try to get Enomoto and Asamiya on the same page. Everything starts to make sense at the end of the episode. I don’t understand everything Shinohara’s planning, but he seems to know what he’s doing.
