English Dub Review: Horimiya: The Missing Pieces “Teacher”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Nakamine-sensei may be oblivious, Terajima-sensei may be strict, and Yasuda-sensei may be a hopeless pervert, but they all have one thing in common… They’re all teachers at Katagiri High!
Our Take:
We’ve allowed the Katagiri High students to share the spotlight throughout the season. But now, it looks like we’re focusing on a different group of people at school. A group that usually puts the students in their place. That’s right, I’m referring to the teachers at Katagiri High School. With the previous episodes centering on the students, it felt like a solid change of pace to have one focusing on the high school teachers. But, of course, that doesn’t mean the Katagiri students can’t have some mischief, either.
One of the teachers in the episode is Yasuda, who we briefly see in the past couple of episodes. “Teacher” emphasizes Yamada’s personality further, as he’s seen as a teacher with a disturbing fetish for teenage girls. Yes, he is indeed one of those who deserve to be arrested. Amid his strange obsession, Yasuda encounters several situations involving him and his students. First, he received an unsuspecting haircut from a couple of students, resulting in his class making fun of him. Yasuda also encountered a science teacher named Nakamine with Yoshikawa sewing a hole in his coat, with him and Ishikawa thinking they might be having an affair. Lastly, he busted Miyamura and the boys for bringing a cake to class and rescued Hori and Sengoku when they were trapped in the council room after oversleeping.
While the other teachers are present, including Nakamine and Terajima, the episode focuses mainly on Yasuda and his pervert ways. Amid his conversations with his students, Yasuda often makes them uncomfortable with his comments, especially when he asks Hori and Sengoku if they had sex in the council room. He would even go as far as to tell them to remove their clothes. I can see this episode not boding well for other viewers who despise perverts despite a few humorous moments involving Yasuda.
As for the other teachers, Nakamine has his chance to shine, involving his forgetfulness and encounter with Yoshikawa, which is delightful. His obliviousness regarding the missing keys is the episode’s bright spot. Terajima doesn’t do much besides teaching Yasuda a lesson in the episode, but it was worth a laugh seeing her set the perverted professor straight. Overall, I would say “Teacher” delivers the proper lessons in providing high school hilarity, continuing the highly charming series’s strong streak.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
