English Dub Review: AYAKA: A Story of Bonds and Wounds “You’ve Come to Wear Some Better Expressions”

Overview:

Yukito and his friends go to a festival.

Our Take:

Yukito goes to a festival with his friends. He’s having a lot of fun with them, but he’s struggling to keep his powers under control. He manages to do so eventually, but it seems like there’s another issue looming overhead.

I really enjoy seeing Yukito having fun with his friends. He’s a different person now than he was at the start of the show. Jingi notices that as well, so he just lets him have fun instead of giving him a hard time. Yukito even accredits his growth to Jingi.

It’s obvious that there’s an underlying reason as to why Yukito struggles with his powers. He doesn’t know what that is yet, but it’s only a matter of time before he finds out. He almost ruined the festival because of it, so it will surely come up again very soon.

The episode leaves off on a cliffhanger when it seems like a volcano is erupting on the fourth island. This is reminiscent of the flashback we saw in the first episode, so the events might be coming full circle.
