English Dub Review: The Duke of Death and His Maid “The Duke, Alice, and Circus 101”

Overview:

The Duke and Alice join the circus as the Duke prepares to talk to Zain.

Our Take:

This was a fun but sad episode because Cuff and Zain have become such great supporting characters and I don’t want to see anything bad happen to them. Zain keeps a lot of his cards close to his chest at first I really didn’t like him. His flirting with Alice is still occasionally frustrating but I can at least kind of understand why now. He can’t let Cuff know how much he means to him because he will probably have to leave her because of Daleth.

This episode didn’t focus on the Duke or Alice all that much but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I was just thinking about this during the episode but this is a fun and fresh way to do the “Will they/ Won’t they?” question that comes up in romance so often. We already know that they both have feelings for each other but the main problem is will the Duke get his curse resolved in time. I want to see these four characters happy so badly that it definitely has created an investment for me, and when it comes to fiction that isn’t a bad thing.
