English Dub Review: The Devil is a Part-Timer! “The Devil and the Hero Go Futon Shopping”

Overview:

Alas Ramus deserves a safe and comfy place to sleep! Emi and Maou go on a futon-shopping quest while Ashiya and Urushihara try to figure out what’s happening with Suzuno.

Our Take:

I’m all aboard the Emi and Maou ship, I mean I always was but this episode was too adorable. Maou has wanted Alas to stay overnight with him for a long time but Emi refuses to let her stay there as long as Alas doesn’t have a futon to sleep on. So, Emi, Maou, and Emi go futon shopping in one of the cutest family outings on this side of Spy x Family. 

Emi gets really self-conscious when she starts to feel like they look like a married couple. I don’t necessarily dislike Chiho but I just really like Emi and Maou’s dynamic a lot more. I don’t know why Emi can’t get over Maou being who he was and it feels like he’s changed but maybe that will be a bigger arc later.

Emi is thinking of going back to Ente Isla to spend some time sorting out her feelings. Does this mean what I hope it means? Probably not but this show has become really cute and fun and I hope more episodes like this happen in the future. I know this is more action-oriented but the family-oriented episodes have been some of my favorites.
