English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Expert and Girlfriend”

Overview:

With the momentum of the crowdfunding campaign stalling, Kazuya must turn to Mini, who happens to be an expert on the matter!

Our Take:

I feel kind of bad for Alek Le having to voice Kazuya. For what it’s worth he does a great job with his voice but the character is just so bad. The only reason I sometimes check back in with the manga is because I want to see if it’s still a dumpster fire and for the most part it still is. But no issues with the voice talent because they all do a fantastic job. Lizzie Freeman does a great job voicing Chizuru as well even if I’m not the biggest fan of her character either.

Maybe, with Mini involved not only will the crowdfunding for the film take off but perhaps there might be some movement with Chizuru’s and Kazuya’s relationship. Mini flat-out told Chizurua that Kazuya likes her but she refused to hear it because he told her she didn’t. It’s situations like this that annoys me, it feels like we’re just padding for length here. Some romance shows do a great job of showing the couple actually together and I think this series would be much better if it went that way as well.
