English Dub Review: My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1 “You Can Do It! Get ‘Em, Celeste!”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
As Ryota and Emily help Celeste recover from her exhausting duty, a powerful enemy appears in the Selen dungeon known as the Dungeon Master. With the Dungeon Master being the cause of the endless amounts of trash, Ryota sets out to conquer the adversary with the help of Emily and…Celeste?!
Our Take:
It bears repeating that Ryota narrating the show’s concept at the beginning of each episode is more tiresome than ever. We know what it’s about from the first episode, so repeating it in every episode makes no sense. Also, we would like to know what each episode is about ourselves without knowing beforehand. Of course, it probably won’t matter since we might be close to the end of the season.
After being introduced to fire mage Celeste in the previous episode, this week’s episode provides a swift conclusion to her short healing progress. She’s been hard at work attempting to burn the trash from the adventurers, but because of her limitations, Celeste couldn’t get the job done fast enough. In fact, she might not be able to finish it at all, considering the endless amounts of trash she keeps getting. As a result, Celeste ended up being unfairly abused by the adventurers, similar to how Ryota was treated in his previous life as a salaryman. However, thanks to Ryota’s supportive nature, Celeste found the courage to do whatever she could to help him.
Of course, that includes helping Ryota and Emily battle the Dungeon Master in the Selen dungeon. The Dungeon Master, later revealed to be a Bicorn, is the dungeon’s strongest boss who causes the other monsters to hide and leaves piles of trash for the adventurers to burn. For what it’s worth, this episode did showcase how formidable the Bicorn was regarding its magic barrier and a spell that decreases the adventurers’ stats except their HP and strength. Fortunately, the heroes managed to pull through due to Celeste’s Inferno magic. With Celeste working to help Ryota and Emily conquer the mighty beast, she’s rewarded with Bicorn horns that’ll allow her to use level-one magic with no limitations. As a bonus, she’s also offered to join Ryota’s party as they’re about to make their way back home.
The episode offered a slight improvement over the previous episode due to Celeste herself. It provides some obvious clues that Celeste will wind up being Ryota’s love interest in later episodes. However, it also made me glad that Celeste managed to find peace within herself, thanks to Ryota. It even offers enough excitement in their boss fight to maintain my interest in the series. Here’s hoping that their next challenge will accomplish the same task.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
