English Dub Review: Liar, Liar “Treasures in the Darkness”
Overview:
Shinozaki and Akizuki face off in a crucial game.
Our Take:
Shinozaki plays a game of “Tabletop Treasure Hunt” with Akizuki. Their partners are hidden in a classroom and they each have to ask questions and move along the school trying to find the other player’s partner. It’s an interesting game as both Shinohara and Saionji have to think outside the box in order to win. Noa makes it difficult for Shinohara to cheat. She thinks me makes it impossible, but Hiroto is more clever than she thinks.
When the game ends, we find out who Noa is working for. Hiroto agrees to save her and take the actual devil down. The episode tries to make the viewer feel sorry for Akizuki. I don’t fully buy it, but I don’t dislike as much as I did.
I really enjoy the game this time around. The rules seem simple at first, but it actually involves a lot of thinking. It’s enjoyable to see the characters’ thought process as they’re trying to figure out where the treasure is hidden.
The payoff isn’t quite as satisfying as I was hoping for. I enjoyed seeing Noa lose of course, but Hiroto basically forgives her for all of her wrongdoings. She does apologize, but again, I don’t fully buy it. Maybe Shinohara is just too nice of a person.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
