English Dub Review: Jujutsu Kaisen “Premature Death”

Overview:

August 2007. Gojo starts to handle missions on his own, causing Geto to, as well. One day a certain individual appears before Geto. What’s the conclusion that led to Gojo becoming the strongest jujutsu sorcerer, and Geto becoming the most evil curse user?

Our Take:

This was a fantastic episode which is saying a lot because I watched it on my lunch at my other job on my phone. Which is an awful way to experience an episode for me at least. I don’t enjoy watching anime on my phone unless I absolutely have to. Even with all those negatives I still loved this episode, or maybe hate it is the more appropriate term?

We finally see what happened to Geto on why he became the way he is and the one thing that makes a compelling villain is if their ideas make sense. His sure did and I might join him myself if given the opportunity. The episode ended with the Itadori trio waking up Gojo so I think our flashback time has ended.

I’ve heard that a lot of the upcoming arcs are fantastic but they will have a tough one to beat. The best thing I can say about this opening set of episodes is that they got me really excited to see how things go. I know it’s not likely but I hope that Geto and Gojo can work things out. I feel like this flashback arc should have happened earlier because now I feel like Geto is better villain than he was made out to be and I might go back and rewatch the first season.
