English Dub Review: AYAKA: A Story of Bonds and Wounds “Then Give Me Drinking Money”
Overview:
Yukito learns more about his father and he also learns a little about Ibara.
Our Take:
Most of this episode revolves around backstory. We hear more about Yukito’s father and how he impact people’s lives on the islands. Yukito also wants to return a set of keys to Ibara Ichijou, one of Aka’s associates. He learns a little more about her as well.
Unfortunately, I don’t really find these backstories too compelling. I don’t feel attached to Ibara as a character either. Granted, she hasn’t done much yet, but I still don’t have much reason to care about her right now.
The episode starts a fight with an ara-mitama, which I assume will conclude in the next episode. I hope that episode is a lot more eventful. This one is mainly for more explanations, but it just drags and feels really boring.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
