English Dub Review: The Legendary Hero is Dead! “The Legendary Hero Is a Duo!”

Overview:

The situation is dire Touka still won’t wake up, even as time ticks down. Will the day be saved, or will the legendary hero end up dead—again?

Our Take:

This finale represents what I hate most about anime. That is the way anime is almost always just a prolonged advertisement for the source material. More than any other form of media in my opinion. Sure, movies are based on books and so are certain tv shows but usually I would argue that they at least finish the story. But no, anime always find a way to hook me in then I find myself on the mangaupdates website trying to see if the manga or light novel the series is based on is licensed in English.

This finale also represents what I love about anime and that is how hype it is and how great most of the characters are. I remember when the series first started that I really disliked Yuna but as it went on she got a lot of growth. Touka did as well and while I understand his obsession with thighs and the fact that he is the cliche pervert character, it would have been nice if his serious moments weren’t as few and far between as they are.

I had a lot more fun with this show than I thought I would and I’m looking forward to the season review. I suppose that the best thing you can say about a piece of media is that you wish it wasn’t over and I have to say I feel that way for this one but something tells me we won’t be getting a second season.
