English Dub Review: The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far “Then I Became Lord of a Domain”
Overview:
Cain has his long-awaited battle with Aaron.
Our Take:
It’s finally time for Cain to fight Aaron. Aaron is in a black dragon’s body, which makes him at least look intimidating. Cain’s friends are fighting off the onslaught of monsters as well. Honestly, their fights are much more interesting than Cain’s fight with Aaron. That battle has an anti-climactic finish and it just feels rushed.
Afterwards, Cain is officially made Viscount and he is given his own domain. It’s overrun by the adventurer’s guild, so it’s not an ideal assignment. Regardless, Cain is determined to make the most of it. He ends up going too far as usual, despite everyone telling him not too.
This finale is a bit of a disappointment. Cain’s fight with Aaron starts off fine, but it ends so abruptly. It feels like there’s no real conclusion and the payoff is almost non-existent. The supporting characters have more interesting scenes than this final battle.
Cain’s usual shenanigans in the back half of the episode aren’t doing much for me either. I’m sick of him showing no self-restraint, taking things too far, and apologizing for it. He should be fully aware of what he’s doing by this point, so the apologies mean absolutely nothing. It’s a running gag that has far overstayed its welcome in my opinion.
Overall, I don’t think this finale is awful. It’s just not that good. It feels rushed and it feels like it just lingers in the second half. I think this show could have ended off on a higher note, so it’s unfortunate that this is how it’s closing out.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
