English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Home Cooking and Girlfriend”

Overview:

Kazuya and Chizuru have decided to make a movie together so that Granny Sayuri can see it. That’s all well and good, but now they have to sit down and work out all the details.

Our Take:

If you read my review of the last episode of season two you might be expecting a glowing review for this one but it’s going to take a while. Mainly because Kazuya is such an unlikeable character that it would make almost any premise unenjoyable. Some of my favorite rom-coms or harem anime have a lead that is at least enjoyable. I never considered myself good with women but Kazuya is so bad that you are at least interested in how the inevitable end will come to be. From a storytelling perspective, he has to end up with Chizuru right? But for the life of me, I don’t see how that is going to happen, maybe I need to pick the manga back up because I gave up.

If I recall he does EVENTUALLY just focus on getting the movie made and not on every little thing Chizuru says. He and her had been meeting on the balcony which upset their new neighbor, so he thought they would stop meeting. This boy actually said “How are we supposed to meet now?” she lives next door bitch! Like damn, this guy is annoying, but speaking of the neighbor, her name is Mini and she is enjoyable so look forward to more on her.
