Our Take
Aaaaand that’s a wrap for season two! We’ll do a more in-depth season review next week, but in the meantime, talk about how great this week’s episode was of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head. Yes, we get a Daria cameo, and it’s a pretty good one, but we could always use more. Quite frankly, I was more shocked to see Toby Huss returning as “Smart Todd” as Todd was even seldom used in the show these last two seasons. Other funny alternates for the opening scene that I would’ve enjoyed included Jim from The Head, Maxx, and one more go with Stewart.
Just getting an entire episode with Smart Beavis and Smart Butt-Head was a treat, one that I would’ve preferred being the last-last episode. I mean come on! Tom Anderson going nuts and even the multiverse characters taking part in their own cutaway? When are we going to see any of THIS again? Hopefully sooner rather than later since we haven’t heard of another season being ordered just yet, but hopefully that’s right around the corner.
If you need more proof of this look no further than in “Sleepover”. Featuring some fun new characters and a now stolen PS5, I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction of new neighbors to the fray in the form of Cody and his family. In fact, Tim Meadows guest-stars as Cody’s dad, and while he’s great in everything he does, I felt like he was almost TOO reserved here. If another season were to come about, truly fleshing out Tim Meadows to take advantage of that stellar comedic timing would be the proverbial icing on an already delicious cake.
Last, but certainly not least, I thought “Sleepover” had the better of the two cutaway gags. If for no other reason, another fight breaks out between Beavis and Butt-Head and it was by far the most one-sided victory we’d even see Beavis get in the entirety of this show’s run, at least for sure during the 2nd rebooted era. Clearly, this franchise still has legs, and we’ll get deeper into why next week.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
