English Dub Review: The Legendary Hero is Dead! “The Legendary Hero Is a Student!”

Overview:

The wicked necromancers hire a deadly mercenary to slow the party down, as new revelations arise about Touka’s past.

Our Take:

Okay, so this show radiates pervy energy, and like a lot of anime, it wears its fanservice on its sleeve. Or takes it off if you know what I mean. For all his perversion, I would say that Touka is starting to grow on me. Yes, he says some dumb stuff but as we are coming to find out he’s got a bit of a noble heart. Apparently, he slowed down the demons so the hero could save his hometown all those years ago and never told a soul. I don’t know if you read my reviews of Urusei Yatsura but this is how you make a pervy protagonist likable.

I know that I sang Alexis’s praises last week but I have to keep on them this week. Mainly because this week Touka went full-on perv mode and hearing some of the things he says come out of Alexis’s mouth was amazing. When voice actors have to “impersonate” their contemporaries in situations like this it can be really hit or miss but Alexis has been doing amazing. She was always one of my favorites but this anime has shown a side of her talent I hadn’t seen before.
