English Dub Review: My Clueless First Friend “The Swift Reaper Alliance, the Cursed Song, and Christmas”

Overview:

Kasahara gets a little closer with Nishimura, Takada hears Nishimura sing, and the gang prepares for a Christmas party.

Our Take:

Nishimura sees Kasahara try to play with what she thinks is a cat. It turns out to be a plastic bag, but Nishimura still thinks it’s cute. They seem to be getting closer and Kasahara even tells Takada the two of them are friends. She might still be a little awkward with Nishimura, but I love this progression.

Nishimura is going shopping and she sings to herself. Takada just so happens to be following her and hears her singing. He really wants her to sing again, but she’s embarrassed. She does eventually give in though, which pleases her friend.

The friend group is having a Christmas party at Takada’s place. Takada and Nishimura go shopping for snacks. While they’re out, they see Yukiko’s friend who is on a date. They even see her and the boy she’s with kiss. Takada did ask Nishimura if he could kiss her when they grow up, so this does spark a lot of embarrassment.

This is just another great episode all around. I’ve said before that I love the fact that Kasahara is becoming friends with Nishimura. She even admits that they are friends in this episode. She also even shows up at Takada’s Christmas party. I still want her to stick up for Nishimura in front of the rest of the class, but baby steps.

Takada and Nishimura are getting more adorable and awkward as they seemingly start to build a more romantic bond. I’m here for it because it’s just so sweet and wholesome. Yeah, they’re kids but I don’t think that means they can’t develop feelings for each other. They’re really close and it looks like they might get a little closer.
