English Dub Review: In/Spectre “The Silenced Children”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The heirs to the hotel chain begin discussing what they’re going to tell Kotoko, but some unexpected details come to light.
Our Take:
The episode brings us a unique version of the game, “Clue”. However, instead of finding the culprit responsible for the crime, the people involved must find the suspect’s reason for murdering their victim. I would love to see that version of “Clue” get made sooner or later.
In this case, we have Koichiro’s adult grandchildren and their uncle coming together in a single room to find the reason behind their grandfather murdering his wife. Of course, we have Kotoko and Kuro as judges to make things interesting. What we got out of all of this is the first part of the discussion, where the heirs decipher how Koichiro murdered Sumi. However, instead of answering the question, the heirs discuss how they should split the inheritance, but that’s not the only thing they’re confessing. Except for Ryone, the heirs admitted they planned to kill Sumi behind each other’s backs.
For example, Kotoko stated a theory that Kyoya’s wife Karuko pretended to fracture her leg so she could murder Sumi. Karuko would return home from killing Sumi and break her leg to avoid suspicion. Kyoya and Karuko plotted to kill Sumi but quickly fell apart when Karuko actually broke her leg. That’s definitely a piece of karma right there.
With the departure of the show’s supernatural elements, the episode goes for a down-to-earth straightforward exposition part of the mystery aspect. Granted, it’s not as enticing as it sounds since viewers must pay close attention to and remember the details, especially when determining which heir is related to whom. I tried to do that, and it made my head spin, but not in a good way. However, their secrets coming to light were enough for me to see where we’re heading next in this discussion.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
