Our Take

In this episode, the manager of Miu’s fashion magazine, Cutie Beauty, approaches Yūya after school, seeking his participation, but he refuses. However, when she learns about the upcoming sports competition, she decides to capture Yūya’s moments during the event. Meanwhile, during a monster-hunting expedition in the Demon’s Den, Yūya gets assistance from the Divine Rabbit, who designates him as the successor to bear the Divine Kick. Learning about the equilibrium between two groups, the benevolent Divines and destructive Viles, Yūya agrees to undergo training to protect his friends in both worlds.

As the sports competition kicks off, Yūya unexpectedly finds himself participating in every event, effortlessly emerging victorious. During a tennis match, Kaori, in gratitude for Yūya’s assistance, gives him a passing kiss on the cheek. Meanwhile the Rabbit is faced with a Vile opponent, and uses the magic Yūya taught him, surprising the opponent. After the Rabbit unintentionally lets it slip where he learned it from, the Vile decides to target Yūya for elimination…

Overall, this was a nice mix of the fanservice and actual world-building. And thanks to this reveal, we somewhat have an idea as to who the primary villains in this world are. If the Vile are considered an EX class and even giving Usagi a hard time, Yūya’s got his work cut out for him. I also don’t blame Yūya for being disinterested at the idea of being a young model. Some people overlook the fact that it’s better to treasure the adolescence of high school life than get a job and celebrity status too quickly. As for the upgrade he got from the Bunny God, it kinda had consequences during the sports events, but it got a bit lazy in terms of animation with everything being in still images with something moving here and there which doesn’t exactly scream confidence in their efforts to animate a show. Hopefully, this improves later on…
