ENGLISH DUB REVIEW: I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too “An Encounter in the Woods”

Overview

Yuuya runs across a girl fighting monsters in the Darkest Regions. She calls herself Luna. They begin spending their days training together, sweating side by side. Back at Ousei Academy, the off-campus study trip begins at a site deep in the mountains.

Our Take

While Yūya continues his exploration of the forest, honing his skills alongside his newly acquired companion, “Night,” they come across a distressed girl threatened by a group of goblins. Despite Night’s inexplicable attempt to deter Yūya, he intervenes and rescues the stranger. Identifying herself as Luna, the girl reveals she ventured into the forest for training. Yūya, displaying unprecedented kindness, prompts Luna to seek his assistance in her quest for improvement, a request he promptly accepts.

Later, Yūya temporarily departs from their collaborative efforts as he returns to Earth, engaging in a school field trip with classmates to mountainous terrain owned by Ousei Academy. The students find themselves perplexed by the outdoor sleeping arrangements and the task of foraging for food over the weekend. Yūya once again amazes his peers with his adept fishing skills. Simultaneously, in the other world, Luna begins to unveil more about herself than she initially she’s letting on…

It took half the season but this was a chill episode. There were some fight scenes but not much. The field trip commences with outdoor activities like fishing and harvesting vegetables, showcasing Yūya’s proficiency once again. But what stood out to me the most was the newly introduced character named Luna who I find the most interesting. In terms of personality, seems cool and collected compared to some of the others. Not to mention her razor-thread manipulating abilities were eerily similar to Walter C. Dornez from the Hellsing franchise which adds another level of coolness for me. Moreover, the episode offers a glimpse into Yūya’s daily life, including moments of relaxation such as bath time, amidst the ongoing adventures. So far, none of it has been boring, and I look forward to seeing what happens next!
